Denny Hamlin had some kind words for Kevin Harvick, as the latter enters the next chapter of his life, retiring from his behind the wheel NASCAR career.

Next up for Harvick, after some well-earned time off, is a trip to the FOX booth when the NASCAR season returns in 2024. Many fans are excited to have someone of Harvick’s caliber joining Clint Bowyer and Mike Joy, and it’s evident drivers share that sentiment, as well.

During the latest episode of his Actions Detrimental podcast, Hamlin explained his belief that the former NASCAR champion will greatly improve the FOX booth with his arrival in 2024.

“I just want to say happy retirement. He’s still going to give back to the sport, by being part of the TV. I tell you, he can really improve that FOX booth a ton. I think he’ll push them to be better,” Hamlin predicted. “From what we’ve seen, NBC, FOX, the big variation in the production that the two have. How much one is really into the nuts and bolts and explaining everything, where as the other is just kind of talking about some stuff. It’s just like, there’s a lot to be gained there in the FOX booth, and I think that Kevin will push everyone to do that, and be better.

“So I’m excited to see how that turns out for sure. You’ve got a great base there, so I think that there’s going to be something good that comes there from that. … I think that FOX definitely could be more technical in their explaining of stuff, but he’ll help with that. He’ll no doubt help with that. I think he’s going to push [Clint] Bowyer and those guys to be better. Mike Joy, he’s a great anchor for that program. He’s not gone. He’s not going to disappear from your TV. But we’re certainly going to miss him on the race track.”

Alas, Harvick’s trip to FOX will also help ease the loss of his presence on the track. He’s been one of the more popular drivers in the sport ever since he replaced Dale Earnhardt at Richard Childress Racing, and he was able to keep that respect over the course of his career.

Nevertheless, the FOX booth was in dire need of a broadcaster like Kevin Harvick, and Denny Hamlin recognizes that. We can’t wait to hear him over the audio of the Daytona 500 next February.
