Denny Hamlin sends cryptic message after latest NASCAR lawsuit filing
With more filings in the NASCAR lawsuit, Denny Hamlin can’t help but make a little noise. This time he remained a bit cryptic. It isn’t every day that you see Hamlin posting Bible verses on his social media.
Today 23XI and Front Row made a new filing. In it is a response to NASCAR allegations from 23XI president Steve Lauletta. Front Row GM Jerry Freeze also makes a statement in the filing as well as a Joe Custer affidavit.
In response to a tweet from Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports, Denny Hamlin kept it short and sweet. “Luke 8:17 Bob.”
For those not well-versed in their scripture, that verse reads: “For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.”
Is this a message from the 23XI co-owner about what is to come? With today’s filing, there is more pressure on NASCAR. At least, that’s what I would argue.
If the accusations are accurate, NASCAR is withholding the Stewart-Haas Racing charters, which are supposed to be purchased by 23XI and FRM, until the lawsuit is dropped. Freeze stated that he was told verbally by President Steve Phelps that the charters would be sold without issue.
Joe Custer in his statement noted that he was also told the charters would be sold as planned. Stewart-Haas/Haas Factory Team has no interest or resources to field two more Cup Series teams in 2025.

Of course, Denny Hamlin is very much involved in all of this. He is hoping that his teams are able to race with charters next season.
Denny Hamlin weighs in after Joe Custer affidavit
The most interesting part of the filing is perhaps this statement from Joe Custer. An affidavit is simply a written statement that has been taken under oath. So, why is this so interesting? This is the first instance of another executive or team participating in the lawsuit.
According to Pockrass, Custer was told multiple times by NASCAR that Haas would be able to transfer their charters to 23XI and FRM. He also claims that Haas Factory Team does not have the resources or employees to operate those two teams in 2025.
However, the sale of the charters has not been approved. Now, instant reaction, this seems significant. But this is a lawsuit. So, a court is going to look through the layers of drama and at the facts directly. When a decision comes from the judge we will all know who was right.
The NASCAR lawsuit continues to unfold. It is very early. Yesterday the case was transferred to a different judge. What happens next is anyone’s best guess.
