Denny Hamlin tweeted Chase Elliott data because of 'two-faced' Elliott fans
Denny Hamlin had his reasons for taking to Twitter to share the SMT data proving Chase Elliott wrecked him at Charlotte.
During his Actions Detrimental podcast following the Coca-Cola 600, Hamlin wasn’t going to let Elliott, or his fans off the hook. He began by stating that he doesn’t mind some of Elliott’s fans, but the majority of them simply don’t use logic.
“I don’t mind Chase Elliott fans. Some of them are sane, most of them are not,” stated Hamlin. “Even when you’ve got the Dawsonville Pool Room saying, ‘Oh boy, we need a substitute driver next week,’ you probably know you f—ed up.”
Evidently, Elliott’s fanbase had Hamlin riled up, and he tweeted the SMT data to prove to them that the Hendrick Motorsports driver did in fact make a mistake, and he deserved to be suspended for a race.
“These fans. Golly. They drive me crazy sometimes, because they’re so two-faced. I look at like, specific instances, and I go back in their history, and like, they condone it when it goes on one side, and they you know, must suspend from NASCAR when it’s on the other side,” explained the Joe Gibbs Racing wheelman. “Like it’s just, like how can you be a fan and be that twisted, to like not recognize when your driver f—ed up. Like even myself, I know when I’m absolutely an idiot and made a stupid a– move. Like how can you not be that self aware. I just don’t get it. Just call a spade a spade for once, so you gain a little bit of credibility.

“They’re looking, they like, ‘His car obviously must’ve been broken. He would never do that.’ Well, why? Has he not before? I mean, I’ve given you instances where he’s lashed out, being like a kid. So it’s agitating as s— to me. I’m the one holding my head up here. Chase Elliott made comments on May 1st about how unsafe he felt the cars were, but yet you feel like that’s okay. I just don’t — it doesn’t make any sense to me whatsoever.”
That’s certainly not going to make Hamlin any more popular at the racetrack, but he’s making a stance, even if it’s against NASCAR’s most popular drive and his rampant fanbase.
Regardless, Denny Hamlin will be racing at Gateway this weekend, while Chase Elliott is forced to sit out, but the drama between these two seems to be far from over.
