Denver Broncos place DB Delarrin Turner-Yell on PUP list
The Denver Broncos have three players unable to play as of Sunday. That list includes one of their young defensive backs in Delarrin Turner-Yell.
NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport released some roster designations from across the league with training camps beginning. For Denver, theirs featured Turner-Yell along with DB Caden Sterns along with LB Drew Sanders all being on the PUP list. Turner-Yell and Sterns are reportedly dealing with knee issues while Sanders is working back from a torn Achilles.
Turner-Yell is entering his third season as a safety for the Broncos. Those first pair of campaigns saw him appear in 30 games, including 16 in 2023 with two of those being starts.
In those opportunities, Turner-Yell has posted 42 tackles, two fumbles recoveries, a quarterback hit, and a pass deflection. There was improvement in his game from being a rookie to his second year as he he had 34 tackles and the deflection last fall.
Denver selected him Turner-Yell out of Oklahoma in the fifth round with the 152nd pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He became a pro after a four-year collegiate career in Norman. While a Sooner, Turner-Yell put up 191 tackles with 10 that went for losses. He also had six deflections, four interceptions, and a forced fumbles.
Turner-Yell has started to emerge throughout his development so far in the NFL. However, his third year is going to get off to a slower start with him unable to be out on the field at this time.

Sanders, the former third-round pick, suffered a torn Achilles in April that required surgery with his expected recovery time reported to be between 6-9 months.
Sanders was solid in his rookie season to finish with 24 total tackles and a fumble recovery. He started four of 17 games he appeared in.
As for Sterns, he tore his patella tendon last year in the opening game and missed the remainder of the season.
Prior to that, the defensive back totaled four interceptions over his first two NFL seasons. He appeared in 15 games as a rookie to finish with 28 total tackles, five passes defended and a pair of picks. However, Sterns has played in only six games since then as injuries have taken a toll on him early in his pro career. He also missed 12 games in 2023 during his second season as a result of injury.
Despite his designation to being this offseason, the hope is that Sterns can remain healthy this season and make key contributions for the defense. He will look to make it back by the beginning of the year and show the promise he displayed as a first-year player.
