He finished the year with nine touchdown catches, setting a Sooners freshman record and tying the Big 12 freshman record.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Marvin Mims
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein provided some interesting analysis on Mims in his recent scout of the receiver’s draft profile. The analyst highlighted his ability to contribute not only as a receiver, but on special teams as he served as a punt returner the past three seasons at Oklahoma.
Although Zierlein described Mims as having “average size and strength,” he added that his “ability to create explosive plays” gives him a chance to start in the NFL. Mims finished third in the FBS with five catches of 50 or more yards in 2022.
“Mims is a long-striding wideout who will primarily line up inside, but he has the potential to be moved around to mismatch speed-deficient coverage,” Zierlein wrote. “He ran a limited route tree at Oklahoma, but he has the athletic qualities to expand on it at the next level. He’s athletic in space and dangerous with the ball in his hands, but he’s likely to see the 50/50 throws tilt in the other direction.
“He can work on all three levels of the field and is an above average punt returner. Mims has just average size and strength, but his ability to create explosive plays could push him into a Day 2 selection and a starting role in the future.”
