Denver Broncos unveil 'snowcapped' alternative helmets
The Denver Broncos unveiled brand new alternative helmets on Tuesday, dubbing them the “snowcapped” helmets.
They’re all white with a white face mask, while the Broncos logo they chose is a version from the 1990s with a big block “D” in orange with a blue outline and the snorting horse. It also has blue and orange stripes across the top.
The team called the new caps “old school with a modern twist.”
According to the Broncos, they’ve never used an all-white helmet shell before. It is an “homage” to the state’s beautiful mountain ranges.
The Broncos plan to wear their new snowcapped helmets with their orange alternate uniforms.
With new gear and a new head coach in former Saints skipper Sean Payton, Denver has some renewed momentum heading into the 2023 season. They begin training camp this week after going 5-12 last season, despite betting big on quarterback Russell Wilson.
Titans draw mixed feedback for Oiler throwbacks
On Sunday, the Tennessee Titans revealed that they’ll be breaking out the throwback Houston Oilers uniforms for multiple games in 2023.
Tennessee dropped the “Luv Ya Blue!” uniform combination on Sunday in multiple Twitter posts.
More and more NFL teams are reaching back into their history and breaking out throwback uniforms. This one, however, has been a source of controversy.

Prior to their move to Nashville, the Oilers were the NFL team in Houston.
The Houston Oilers played in Texas from 1960 to 1996 when owner Bud Adams opted to ship the team to Tennessee. The largest city in the Lone Star State didn’t get a new team for several years. Since that move, the team in Houston hasn’t made it past the divisional round of the playoffs.
Former Texans defensive end J.J. Watt gave props to all the creative takes on the throwback uniforms coming out, but noted that the Titans uniform will “pain him” to see.
“I lived in Houston for 10 years,” Watt said. “My first training camp I met Bum Phillips. I was coached by Wade. I’ve seen firsthand how much the people of Houston loved the Oilers. Earl [Campbell], Bruce [Matthews], Warren [Moon], Dr. Doom [Robert Brazile], etc. Luv Ya Blue is real.
“So yeah it pains me for Houston and those fans.”
The divisional rivals will play each other twice during the 2023 season. The first matchup is on Dec. 17 in Nashville, followed by a game in Houston two weeks later on New Year’s Eve.
