Broncos WR Jerry Jeudy predicts a rebound season for Russell Wilson
All eyes are on the Denver Broncos following a disappointing season last year. The team acquired nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson last offseason, bringing tons of buzz and excitement to the franchise. But that was only met with the worst statistical season of Wilson’s career and a 5-12 finish to the season.
Wilson definitely didn’t look the way the Broncos expected him to last season, nonetheless, his top receiving target Jerry Jeudy is confident that his quarterback will bounce back in 2023.
“Russ is a soldier,” Jeudy said. “So just the way he handles his business, the way he handles situations, I just know the type of guy he is and the stuff that he can overcome. In the situations like that, that don’t put no fear into a man’s heart. And I know that this year, he got a big year coming ahead.”
Wilson notched career lows in completion percentage, passing touchdowns, and quarterback rating last season finishing the year with 3,524 yards and just 16 touchdowns on a 60.5% completion percentage and a 36.7 QBR.
There’s no question that last season was a major outlier for the former Super Bowl champion, and whether he overcomes his struggles like Jeudy believes or not, the offense in Denver should look much different this season.

Similar to last year, a new wave of excitement hit Denver this offseason, this time in the form of a new head coach with Sean Payton now at the helm. Like Wilson, Payton too has a Super Bowl ring to his name, as many are hoping that he can help aid Wilson and bring him back to the championship level of football fans were accustomed to seeing in the first 10 seasons of his career.
Jeudy personally had the best season of his professional career despite Wilson and Denver’s struggles, leading the team in receiving for the second time in his three-year career. He ended the 2022 season with 67 grabs for 972 yards and six touchdowns, and is focused this season on being more consistent on a regular basis.
“The biggest thing, really, for me is just consistency,” Jeudy said. “I know what I’m capable of doing, and I’m capable of playing at a high level. It showed the last six games, and the only thing for now is just bringing them last six games into the new year and just starting off strong and staying consistent.”
Denver brings back a fully healthy receiving core along with their new look offense under Payton, as Wilson’s ability to bounce back will be a major factor in the team’s success this upcoming season.
