Derrick Henry recognized after donating 465 winter coats to Baltimore elementary school

The accolades keep rolling in for Derrick Henry, as he enjoys a career resurgence with the Baltimore Ravens in 2024.

On Thursday, Henry helped his team advance to 7-3 via an enthralling one-point victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown. However, he might be even prouder of the news he received on Friday — he was named the Week 10 NFLPA Community MVP.

“Fresh off Thursday night’s win, Ravens RB Derrick Henry is the Week 10 NFLPA Community MVP after buying new winter coats for all 465 students at Curtis Bay Elementary — the same Baltimore school where he hosted a back-to-school giveaway just a few months ago,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted on X.

That’s an awesome accolades and an incredible gesture from Henry, who deserved to be honored by the NFL. He’s continued to show he’s more than just an athlete, giving back to his community in Baltimore, following all he did for Nashville and the entire State of Tennessee during his time with the Titans.

Moreover, Henry’s output last night might’ve been his second-lowest yardage of the season, only to the season opener when he had 46 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs, but that just goes to show how special of a season he’s having in Baltimore.

The Ravens instead utilized Lamar Jackson’s abilities during Thursday night’s game. It started out slow, but quickly turned into a classic, becoming a shootout similar to the last time the two teams squared off this year.

Cincinnati led 14-7 at halftime and took a 21-14 lead into the fourth quarter. But Baltimore broke out for 21 points in the final quarter and Cincinnati got the ball for one final possession.

Joe Burrow found Ja’Marr Chase in the end zone once again, continuing their monster night, to make it a 35-34 Ravens lead. However, the two-point conversion failed, and the Bengals had to try the onside kick. Baltimore recovered, sealing the victory to improve to 7-3 on the season as Cincinnati fell to 4-6.

Despite the loss, Chase stole the show. He hauled in 11 catches for 264 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bengals offense. All told, Burrow completed 34 of 56 passes for 428 yards and four touchdowns – with the only other score going to Tanner Hudson.
