Titans' Mike Vrabel: 'Derrick Henry never ceases to amaze me'

The Tennessee Titans pulled off a come from behind victory against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday led by their All-Pro running back Derrick Henry. He showed off his running back form that was missing in the Titans’ week one loss. Head coach Mike Vrabel praised his running back’s performance after the game.
Vrabel’s praise
“It just never ceases to amaze me. We just got to keep being in opportunities and being in football games where he can help us affect the outcome,” Titans coach Mike Vrabel said. “That’s really what happened today.”
The Titans had another slow start in their game this week. In the first half, all three of their scoring drives ended in field goals. They went into the locker room at halftime trailing the Seahawks 24-9. But in the second half, it would be a whole different story for Tennessee. On the opening drive of the second half, they rode Henry all the way to their first touchdown of the game. And, he wasn’t finished there as he would rush for two more touchdowns — one of which was the game-tying score that sent them into overtime.
Henry finished his monster performance with 35 carries for 182 yards and his three rushing touchdowns we’re the only touchdowns scored by the Titans. He single-handedly outrushed the Seattle Seahawks, more than doubling what they had as a team (77 yards).

Henry on the Titans
For Henry, the game was never in doubt. speaking to the press after the game he told reporters that he knew it would all come together.
“I don’t think anyone expected us to come here and get a ‘W,’” Henry said. “I knew if we stuck together, trust in what we preach and what coach preaches, play the way we practice, it would eventually come together for us.”
In the past two seasons under head coach Mike Vrabel, the Tennessee Titans have found their way into the playoffs. While the team has had success under their new head coach, one could argue none have benefited more than Henry. In 2019, Henry had 1,540 yards rushing on 303 attempts with 16 rushing touchdowns. He also saw his yards per game average jump from 66.2 to 102.7 and he played in one fewer game than the year before. The following year, he had 378 rushes for 17 touchdowns and 2,027 yards on the season. He is just the eighth running back in NFL history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season, but he is just the second to do it in a Titans uniform, behind Chris Johnson’s 2009 season with Tennessee.
The Titans are hoping Henry continues to terrorize opposing defenses this season.
