Deshaun Watson appears to walk off field during Browns 4th down attempt
Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson appeared to walk off the field in the third quarter of their game against the Washington Commanders.
Based on the broadcast, head coach Kevin Stefanski wanted to go for it on 4th and Goal. But with the play clock winding down, Watson walked off the field towards the sideline prompting a reaction from Stefanski.
You can see in the video below.
It didn’t get much better after that. While Cleveland tried to get back in the game, they ended up trailing 34-6 afterwards as the third quarter continued.
At the time of this writing, Watson was 11-of-23 passing for 100 yards and ran once for five yards.
Watson’s struggled this season and is far from his MVP-caliber form when he played for the Houston Texans. Heck, his former college coach Dabo Swinney (Clemson) even tried to relay him some advice late last month.
“I communicate with those guys all the time, whether they’re 1-2 or 3-0. They’ll be fine,” Swinney said of Watson and Trevor Lawrence. “Those guys are good players, it’s a team sport. They certainly know their roles and long season. Long season. Don’t cash the chips in yet. Just keep going.”

Watson was named to the Pro Bowl three times when he was a member of the Houston Texans. He led the NFL in passing yards in 2020 (4,823) and led the Texans to the Divisional round of the playoffs in 2019.
Watson was traded to the Browns in 2022 after missing the entire 2021 season due to sexual assault allegations. A new lawsuit emerged in early September.
“Deshaun strongly denies the allegations in the Jane Doe lawsuit filed Friday,” his attorney Rusty Hardin said, per Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com. “We have asked him not to comment further while this matter works its way through the courts. But are comfortable he will ultimately be vindicated. We will be ready to defend this case in court at the appropriate time. But don’t intend to conduct our defense in the media.
“We would ask that people be patient while the legal process runs its course. In the meantime, Deshaun is going to focus his energy and concentration on football.”
