Details emerge after Nate Hobbs nearly arrested again following DUI
Two weeks after he was charged with DUI, Las Vegas Raiders rookie cornerback Nate Hobbs was issued a citation for speeding in a traffic stop. According to NBC Sports, the first-year player was stopped at 11:45 a.m. Sunday for driving 110 mph in a 65-mph zone.
Nate Hobbs was not arrested, but his car was towed following the traffic stop. He is scheduled for a court appearance in April. In a new video released by TMZ, the moments between his traffic stop and the decision not to arrest him were caught with audio.
“I’ve already been arrested two weeks ago! I cannot be arrested again, sir. Please,” Hobbs said in the video after explaining that he sped to reach a team meeting. “I’m begging you. I swear, I’m begging you.”
The officer told Hobbs that he put not only his life, but the lives of others in danger by travelling at twice the speed limit while cutting off drivers and failing to use proper signals. However, he did not make an arrest.
The rookie was previously arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge on Jan. 3, hours after the Raiders defeated the Indianapolis Colts in a crucial AFC matchup. Las Vegas police said in a statement they found Hobbs asleep in his car on the exit ramp of a parking garage. He failed a field sobriety test.

Hobbs remained with the team following his Jan. 3 incident. He played in 16 games for Las Vegas this season and even started in nine, despite being a rookie. The fifth round pick out of Illinois recorded 74 tackles, three passes defended, and an interception.
More incidents in Las Vegas
Nate Hobbs’ first arrest and second traffic stop came just weeks after former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was arrested for a DUI crash in which a woman died.
Ruggs was immediately released from the team following the incident. The former Raiders receiver is currently on house arrest as he awaits a March 10 preliminary hearing date. If he is found guilty on all charges, he could face more than 50 years behind bars.
In addition, New Orleans Saints star running back Alvin Kamara became the latest NFL player arrested in Las Vegas this season, facing battery charges which occurred during the Pro Bowl weekend. Along with the NFL, the police opted to allow Kamara to compete in the festivities on Sunday before his arrest at the stadium following the game.
