Detriot Lions' Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs changing jersey numbers for 2025

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams and running back Jahmyr Gibbs will wear different jersey numbers for the 2025 season. On Thursday, the team announced that Williams will wear No. 1 and Gibbs will wear No. 0. Last year, Williams wore No. 9, and Gibbs wore No. 26.
Jameson Williams will be wearing the same jersey number he had while playing from the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jahmyr Gibbs never wore No. 0 during his time at Alabama but had No. 1 after Williams left for the NFL in 2022. Gibbs also wore No. 21 while playing for Georgia Tech.
Lions fans are hoping Williams and Gibbs can have the same production they did in 2024. Williams played in 15 regular season games last year, and caught 58 passes for 1,001 yards and seven touchdowns. Gibbs was named to his second Pro Bowl last season after rushing for 1,412 yards and 16 touchdowns in all 17 regula season games.

After reaching the 1,000-yard receiving mark, Jameson Williams shared his reaction. “It meant a lot,” Williams said in Janurary, per the Lions’ official website. “Shout out to my coaches for forcing that on me. I appreciate them a lot for that. It was huge to me and my peoples and my goals. But I’m past that, you know. We got three games left I’m trying to focus up on trying to get something on the fingers.”

“I love that kid,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell said of Williams. “Because he has had to endure a lot and look some of it is his own doing. He knows that. It took him a minute to buy in to what we were doing. He can be a little hardheaded. It’s also why you love him. It’s why I love him.
In December, Campbell gave praise to Jahmyr Gibbs. “We have a lot of confidence in Gibbs,” Campbell said. “He’s continued to get better and better as the season has gone. Given the opportunity, he’s made a lot of plays. … He brings an explosive element. He’s getting better in the pass game, and you see what he’s able to do in the run game. We have a ton of confidence (in him).”
