NFL teams are still conducting interviews and working to make head coaching hires, but Adam Schefter believes two assistants who are certain to land head coaching jobs are Lions coordinators Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn.

The two were big contributors to the Lions earning the No. 1 seed in the NFC, with Johnson leading Detroit’s high-powered offense and Glenn coordinating the stout defense. That was accomplished despite losing multiple starters to injuries. Soon, they will be leading their own teams, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter. He revealed the news Thursday on Get Up.

“They’re going to lose both their coordinators,” Schefter said of the Lions. “Aaron Glenn’s going to get a head coaching job. Ben Johnson’s going to get a head coaching job. And the Lions are going to be in search of two replacements for two guys right now who are tracking to land head coaching jobs.”

Not only did Schefter reveal that Johnson and Glenn are going to land head coaching jobs, but he also shared the teams they are being linked to. Schefter started with Johnson.

“Ben Johnson obviously connected to the Raiders job, the Jaguars job, the Bears job,” Schefter said. “Aaron Glenn, the Jets, Saints, amongst others. But it seems like, at this point in time, both guys are destined to land head coaching jobs.”

Glenn has been the defensive coordinator in Detroit since 2021. He helped the Lions clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC this season, despite losing Aidan Hutchinson and other starters to injuries during the year.

Johnson is a coach who every team with an opening in the NFL seems interested in talking to. The Lions led the NFL in scoring this year at 33.2 points per game, thanks in large part to Johnson’s creativity.

The Lions are now set to host the Commanders in the Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. Detroit earned the bye in the NFC after going 15-2 during the regular season, finishing tied for the best record in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs.

As for Washington, the Commanders reached the playoffs behind rookie sensation Jayden Daniels. Washington then upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild card round of the playoffs last week.
