Devon Achane could hold prominent role soon, per Dolphins insider
In 2022, former Texas A&M running back Devon Achane was a First-Team All-SEC performer. That led to him being selected in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins. Now, it looks like he could hold a prominent role in Miami.
According to Marcel Louis-Jacques, an insider from ESPN, Achane has already been impressing the Dolphins.
“The rookie third-round pick has already looked like one of the Dolphins’ more explosive offensive players — although his practice production should be taken with a grain of salt until the pads go on,” Louis-Jacques wrote. “Even in non-padded team drills, Achane showed prowess as a pass-catcher and home run ability after the catch.”
If there is one problem Devon Achane may run into with the Dolphins, it’s that he’s not alone in the Miami backfield. Players like Raheem Mostert and Myles Gaskin are going to take up carries, but that could help Achane ease into his new role.
“It’s a crowded running back room in Miami, but it may not be long before the rookie has a prominent role.”
Along with running backs already on the roster, there is a rumor that free agent Dalvin Cook could be heading to Miami, making the running back room even more crowded. According to Cook’s agent, nostalgia may even play a role in him choosing the Dolphins.

Of course, this addition would make it even harder to find playing time for running backs like Devon Achane, even though he is already impressing many people in Miami.
Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle praise Devon Achane
A couple of stars for the Miami Dolphins, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle have already praised Devon Achane for his performance.
“It’s an instant impact,” Waddle said. “You can see it in practice. You can see it in the way he goes about meetings, just his work ethic. Having a great guy in the locker room and an explosive player on the field is obviously going to help us a lot.”
Hill added to that, saying that Achane has been a special player for Miami.
“Man, he’s another special player that we added this year. I’m very excited to see what he brings to this offense,” Hill said. “So far, he’s been looking really good with his speed and the way he’s able to catch the ball out of the backfield. So far, I’m very impressed.”
