Former Texas A&M running back Devon Achane proved himself the fastest running back at the 2023 NFL Combine on Sunday. The speedster clocked a time of 4.34 seconds on his first attempt, only to improve his time on his second run at 4.32 seconds.

Achane’s second time ranked him first among running backs at the combine, as well as third overall. All times are unofficial. You can view his run below.

In addition to leading all running backs in the 40-yard dash, Achane also finished second at the position with a time of 1.51 seconds in the 10-yard split. That performance should certainly intrigue some NFL teams ahead of the draft in April.

Achane spent the past three seasons in College Station, ending his college career with 2,376 yards rushing and 21 touchdowns as well as 554 yards receiving and five touchdowns. This past season he was a first team All-SEC member, surpassing 1,000 yards rushing for the first time to go along with 196 yards receiving and 11 total touchdowns.

Achane’s speed was on display with the Aggies, as he recorded two special teams touchdowns of 90-plus yards in his career. In addition to playing football, he also competed on the track and field team. There he was a first team All-American in 2021 in the 100 and 200 meter events. His time of 6.63 seconds at the indoor 60 meter event in 2022 is the third-fastest in Texas A&M history.

Devon Achane currently ranks as the third-best running back in the 2023 NFL Draft according to ESPN. Numerous experts have projected him to go somewhere in the second round. Whichever team ultimately ends up landing him, it’s clear his speed will allow him to make an impact.

The 2023 NFL Draft begins April 27 and will conclude on April 29.
