DeVonta Smith injury update: Eagles WR status revealed for SNF vs. Rams
The Philadelphia Eagles got some bad news on Friday night concerning one of their star receivers. According to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN, the franchise has officially ruled out DeVonta Smith ahead of their game against the LA Rams, due to a hamstring injury. The Eagles currently sit at 8-2 overall and first place in the NFC East.
This season, Smith has hauled in 41 catches for 516 receiving yards and four touchdowns. In his first three seasons in the National Football League, Smith has hauled in over 900 receiving yards for three straight years, including back-to-back seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards (2022 and 2023).
DeVonta Smith was prolific with the Alabama Crimson Tide
Once he hung up his cleats with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he finished as one of the greatest receivers in college football history.
Smith currently owns the SEC and Alabama career record for receiving touchdowns with 46, passing the previous mark of 31 set by Amari Cooper (2012-2014) and Chris Doering of Florida (1992-1995). The Louisiana native also hauled in a program record 235 catches in his storied career there.
