The Philadelphia Eagles officially ruled star wide receiver DeVonta Smith out of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They also listed AJ Brown as questionable, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Smith suffered a concussion after taking a violent hit from Saints defensive tackle Khristian Boyd in Sunday’s Week 3 matchup.

The NFL has fined Boyd $4,600 for the hit which concussed Smith in this past Sunday’s Week 3 matchup, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Smith suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter after taking a violent hit up high from Boyd. There was no flag on the play. Eagles safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who spent three seasons with the Saints, accused his former team of committing the “dirtiest sh*t” he’s ever seen in football.

“Man, that’s the dirtiest sh*t I ever saw in football, bro,” Gardner-Johnson said after the game, via Tim McManus of ESPN. “Y’all obviously saw forward progression was stopped. For them to take a cheap shot on one of our key players, it goes to show what type of team that is. They’re front-runners.”

Smith, 25, has yet to participate in practice this week. With fellow star wideout A.J. Brown sidelined for the last two games with a hamstring injury, Smith has seen the bulk of the targets in Philadelphia’s offense this season. Smith has hauled in a team-leading 21 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown.

The Eagles also listed Brown as a non-participant in Thursday’s practice. In his lone performance this season, Brown had five catches for 119 yards and a score.

If neither Smith nor Brown take the field Sunday, the Eagles will likely lean heavily on running back Saquon Barkley and tight end Dallas Goedert. Barkley is averaging more than 100 yards per game and has scored four touchdowns in three weeks, while catching 10 passes for 53 yards and another score. Goedert is second on the team in targets with 20 and tied for Smith with a team-leading 239 receiving yards.
