Dexter Lawrence injury update: Giants reveal unfortunate news on star DL vs. Cowboys
New York Giants defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence has been ruled out of Thursday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Lawrence suffered an elbow injury during the third quarter. He was taken to the locker room and after further evalutation he will not return to the Thanksgiving Day game.
Lawrence’s injury comes as he was on the Giants’ injury report dealing with a knee injury. However, he was upgraded as being a full participant in practice before week’s end.
The severity of his injury is unknown as of this report. It remains to be seen whether New York is choosing to hold him out for precautionary reasons, or the injury warrants extended care.
He finished the game with three total tackles (two solo) before leaving the game. On the season, he has 21 solo tackles, 9.0 sacks and one forced fumble. His sack totals is tied for sixth in the NFL heading into Weel 13.

His presence in the game cannot be understated for the New York Giants, as coming into Thursday afternoon’s matchup Lawrence has forced 96 pressures when lined up at nose tackle since 2022 — the next closest in the NFL has 19 over that span, per PFF.
Before the NFL, Lawrence was a star defensive lineman for the Clemson Tigers. He was the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and is a two-time All Pro DL.
Luckily for Lawrence, the Giants get to enjoy a mini-bye week thanks to them playing on Thanksgiving day. That gives him several days of added rest and will hope to be back on the field when the Giants take the field again on Dec. 8 against the New Orleans Saints.
The Giants will look to avoid losing its seventh-straight game and drop to 0-5 in NFC East matchups. Watch the exciting finish to the New York Giants’ matchups against the Dallas Cowboys live on FOX.
