Dez Bryant calls for Dallas Cowboys to trade for Kyle Pitts
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant shares quite a few hot takes on social media but his latest has some spice, and it involves his former squad. Bryant took to X (formerly Twitter) to call on his Cowboys to trade for Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts.
Although Jerry Jones’ squad doesn’t necessarily “need” a Pitts addition to the tight ends room, the former No. 88 wants to see him in a better situation.
On Sunday, Bryant tweeted, “The falcons don’t deserve Kyle Pitts.” Several days later, the Falcons tight end was still on his mind.
“Get @kylepitts__ to Dallas please!!!” Bryant tweeted with a photo of Pitts with his arms up signaling that he was open. “This is unacceptable!!! He deserves better.”
After a rookie season with over 1,000 receiving yards on 110 targets, Pitts’ looks and subsequent catches have plummetted. He had just 59 targets, 28 receptions and 356 yards with two touchdowns in 10 games while the Falcons went 7-10 last season.
In Week 1 this season against the Panthers, Pitts had two catches on three targets for 44 yards. The former Florida Gator is coming off of a season-ending MCL injury.
The Falcons drafted Pitts with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. He was coming off of a 770-yard, 12-touchdown final season with the Gators that landed him a first-team All-SEC nod.

The former first-rounder is now in year three of his four-year rookie contract. He signed his rookie deal for $32.9 million. It includes a fifth-year option for the Falcons that could keep him with Atlanta through the 2025 season. They’ll make the decision on whether to exercise that fifth year next offseason.
Bryant proposes Cowboys-Falcons trade for Pitts
The Falcons have been more run-heavy already this season after drafting former Texas running back Bijan Robinson. He and Tyler Allgeier combined for 25 carries on Sunday while QB Desmond Ridder threw the ball 18 times.
The Cowboys tight ends room saw second-leading receiver Dalton Schultz exit for the Texans this summer but added second-round draft pick Luke Schoonmaker. Starter Jake Ferguson logged two catches on seven targets for 11 yards in the Cowboys’ first win of the year against the Giants.
Leading up to the start of the season, Dallas made very few moves ahead of the final roster cut. They did execute a couple of key trades, however. One was sending cornerback Kelvin Joseph to Miami in exchange for cornerback Noah Igbinoghene. That trade proved fruitful for the Cowboys in Week 1. Igbinoghene collected and ran back the blocked field goal attempt that started the team’s 40-0 run against the Giants.
The Dallas Cowboys also acquired quarterback Trey Lance, the 2021 No. 3 overall pick, from the 49ers for a future fourth-round pick. In a corresponding move, they set third-stringer Will Grier free.
