Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant has a suggestion for how the Cowboys can improve their standing in the NFL hierarchy ahead of the 2023 season: by acquiring Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry.

With Henry in tow alongside quarterback Dak Prescott, a returning Tony Pollard and wideouts CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallop and Brandin Cooks, Bryant believes that is an exciting combination.

“Cowboys get Derrick Henry with the supporting cast they have… Prescott Pollard Lamb Cooks Gallup and sprinkle in Turpin/Vaughn,” Bryant tweeted. “Derrick Henry will bring the perfect balanced to execute all of the fire power the cowboys have… that’s a tough offense with a tough defense

“Explosive Strength Balance and Speed Reminder.. Derrick Henry carried the load in Tennessee his whole entire career.. he don’t have to do that in Dallas.”

Henry, 29, has been one of the premier running backs in the NFL the past few seasons. In 2022, he ran the ball 349 times for 1,538 yards and 13 touchdowns.

It was the third time in four years he rushed for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns. The one year during that stretch he didn’t top the 1,000-yard plateau was in 2021. Henry played in only eight games — and rushed for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Titans are potentially on the verge of a major inflection point, and depending on the direction they decided to pursue, Henry could be dealt.

The 2020 Offensive Player of the Year is in the last year of his contract.

The Cowboys, on the other hand, have been in a perpetual state of trying to improve its team to get back to the Super Bowl. It has been nearly three decades since Dallas has won the title.

The running back room is set to look very different than it did last year. Ezekiel Elliott, the starting running back when healthy for the past seven seasons, was release. Tony Pollard, one of the top backups in the league the past few years, is recovering from a left ankle injury but is expecting to be back in time for training camp.

Pollard ran the ball 193 times in 2022 for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns while adding 371 yards and three more scores through the air. He is on a franchise tag for the 2023 season, which will be his fifth in the NFL.

The Cowboys also drafted dynamic diminutive running back Deuce Vaughn out of Kansas State.
