Dez Bryant reacts angrily to Cowboys blowout vs. Lions, calls out Mike Zimmer
Dez Bryant summed up what many Cowboys fans are thinking when he took to social media Sunday in the midst of an eventual 47-9 loss against the Lions. The former Dallas receiver made several posts on X, formerly Twitter, criticizing the team.
Bryant declared that the Cowboys are “not a balanced team” and the issues go beyond the play from quarterback Dak Prescott. He also called out defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, claiming the team should have done what it could to stop Dan Quinn from leaving.
“We shouldn’t have never let Dan Quinn go!” Bryant wrote. “Should have gave him what he want!”
Quinn left Dallas this offseason to become the head coach of the Washington Commanders. He previously spent three years as the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys.
Dallas hired Zimmer to replace Quinn but has not been the defense this year that it was the past three. Sunday’s loss to the Lions was the second time this season the Cowboys have given up more than 40 points.
Detroit ran all over Dallas to total 184 yards rushing (5.1 yards per carry) and a pair of touchdowns on the ground. The team lacked physicality and has been among the worst in the league this season at defending the run.

Additionally, quarterback Jared Goff carved up the defense for 315 yards and three touchdowns. When one user replied to Dez Bryant’s tweet trying to blame cornerback Trevon Diggs, Bryant doubled down on his stance that Zimmer is the issue.
“STFU CAP,” he wrote. “ZIM got him in some bullsh*t.”
Of course, it’s hard to put all of the blame on the defense when your offense fails to score a single touchdown. They also committed five turnovers, and it’s difficult to win games with those numbers.
It’s clear Dallas has a lot to work on both offensively and defensively as they fell to 3-3 on the year and 0-3 at home. The Cowboys have a bye in Week 7 and will hopefully use it to address some of their issues.
