Dez Bryant takes exception to Jerry Jones CeeDee Lamb comments: 'Winning must not be in the vocabulary'
According to Jerry Jones, there is no urgency to get a deal done with CeeDee Lamb. The wide receiver has not been with the Cowboys for training camp, holding out for a new contract. Just around a month separates Thursday’s comments from Jones and the season opener against Cleveland.
Reactions have poured in over what was said, including quarterback Dak Prescott. He wants to get Lamb signed as soon as possible and get his top weapon back on the field.
Another No. 88 gave their thoughts on the matter too. Dez Bryant questioned Jones’ comments, wondering if the word “winning” is even in the Dallas owner/general manager’s vocabulary.
“This only happens to… Let me shut my mouth. Winning must not be in the vocabulary smh,” Bryant said via X.
Ironically, this has been the Cowboys’ best stretch since the glory days back in the 1990s. Making the playoff three consecutive seasons had not occurred since the turn of the century. There have been 36 regular season wins, second most in the NFL only behind the Kansas City Chiefs.
Nobody in Dallas cares about the regular season, though. The playoff record is 1-3, with two losses coming at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers and this past season to the Green Bay Packers. All found a way to seemingly reach a new low as well.

Bryant might be arguing there will be no winning, of any sorts, if a contract is not given to Lamb. After all, Lamb is fresh off being named a first-team All-Pro wide receiver, leading the NFL in receptions while going for over 1,700 yards.
This is nothing Bryant has not experienced before. He was a Cowboys player for eight seasons after being drafted in the first round. A contract extension was even given out to Bryant during his time in Dallas, having to deal with Jones and the entire front office. Bryant signed a five-year contract in June 2015 instead of playing the season on a franchise tag.
While the contract did not play out to its full length, Bryant certainly made the transition years for Dallas with Prescott under center a lot easier.
Many Cowboy fans are hoping the Prescott-Lamb connection stays at AT&T Stadium for years to come. But the urgency is not there from the front office, at least at the current moment. Even former players no longer inside the organization are frustrated.
