DK Metcalf says he's 'at 100 percent' after suffering rib injury
Seahawks WR DK Metcalf forced some back in Seattle to hold their breaths as he exited and returned to their win over Detroit with an injury to his ribs.
However, the 6’4, 235-pound fifth-year receiver is doing just fine. As he told reporters on Thursday, the rib issue is a minor one and he’s planning to take the field this weekend when the Seahawks host the Carolina Panthers.
“I’m feeling pretty good,” Metcalf said. “I’m always at 100 percent.”
Thursday was Metcalf’s second absence of the week at practice for Seattle. The injury has been a day-to-day matter that he is now saying won’t bother him as he goes into the weekend.
Through two games, Metcalf is the Seahawks leading receiver. He has nine catches on 11 targets for 122 yards, 53 more than Tyler Lockett in second, and a touchdown.
In the 37-31 OT victory in Detroit, Metcalf caught all six of his targets for 75 yards.
Metcalf, alongside Lockett, is a go-to target for QB Geno Smith as one of the best receivers in the NFL. With him in the fold for one of the better offenses in the league, Seattle will feel much better about their chances of picking up the second win of their season against Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
Report: Panthers expect QB Bryce Young to miss 1-2 games with ankle injury
The Carolina Panthers will face the Seattle Seahawks on the road this weekend without QB Bryce Young.

The first-year QB suffered an ankle injury that will keep him sidelined for Week 3, and potentially Week 4 as well, according to The Athletics‘ Joe Person.
The two-week timeline for Young’s return to play is a cautious approach, Person claims, which means the Panthers could bring him back sooner. Next week, Carolina welcomes the Minnesota Vikings for a 1 p.m. ET kickoff at home.
With Young out, veteran Andy Dalton is working with the first team. Dalton has yet to attempt a pass this season but has thrown for more than 38,000 yards in his career.
Young and the Panthers are off to an 0-2 start after falling to the New Orleans Saints on Monday. Carolina was competitive throughout the contest but ultimately suffered a 20-17 loss.
On the season, Young has passed for 299 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Seahawks are favored by 6.5 points against the Panthers ahead of Sunday’s game.
