Dolphins fan intercepts touchdown ball intended for Tyreek Hill’s mom
A passionate, and perhaps bold, Miami Dolphins fan nearly swiped away a touchdown ball intended for Tyreek Hill‘s mother during Sunday’s game against the Giants.
Early in the third quarter, Tua Tagovailoa hit Hill for a 69-yard touchdown pas to give Miami a 24-10 advantage. After his only score of the game, the star receiver rushed over to the area of the stadium where his mother was sitting, attempting to give her the football.
After Hill tossed the ball her direction, one fan intercepted it, thinking he’d leave the game with a souvenir. That didn’t work out too well. Hill’s mother and a number of other fans intervened. He then appeared to hand the football over.
While it’s a funny story, that fan probably didn’t know what was happening. He believed he was leaving the stadium with a cool story … and a football. Now, he’ll leave Hard Rock Stadium with just the story, and maybe a little embarrassment.
Hill and the Dolphins improved to 4-1 on the season, defeating New York 31-16. The receiver put up monster numbers in the victory, hauling in eight catches for 181 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 22.6 yards per catch for Miami.
Next week, the Dolphins will play at Hard Rock Stadium again, hosting the Carolina Panthers.
Tyreek Hill comments on TD ball mix-up
After Sunday’s victory over the Giants, Hill was asked about the mix-up in the stands between the random Dolphins fan and his mom. He says it’s a good thing that the fan eventually gave up the touchdown ball.

“I’m not shocked my mom was able to get out of there. That’s my mom,” Hill said.
The receiver then went into detail as to what transpired when he attempted to give the ball to his mom. It sounds like it was a miscommunication.
“I mean, it’s so loud that, I was looking at my mom but he was looking at me in excitement,” Hill told reporters. “I’m like, ‘Bro, move.’ My mom kinda shoved him out the way, but he got the ball and gave it to her.
“I’m gonna tell you right now, you don’t want to mess with that little beast. I live with my mom every day, she scares me sometimes. He don’t want to mess with that one.”
Let that be a lesson to any future Dolphins fans attempting to get in between Hill’s touchdown football and his mother. If you try to take it, things probably won’t end well.
