Report: Dolphins hiring Ravens associate head coach Anthony Weaver as defensive coordinator
Baltimore Ravens associate head coach and defensive line coach Anthony Weaver is leaving to take the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator position, according to a report from Jordan Schultz.
The 43-year-old Weaver spent the past three seasons with the Ravens. He helped Baltimore to a 13-4 record and No. 1 seed in the AFC this past season.
Anthony Weaver was in the mix for an NFL head coaching job this offseason but will instead reportedly head to Miami as the Dolphins DC.
The former Notre Dame star has also coached in the NFL for the Jets, Bills, Browns and Texans.
Landing Weaver is a big get for a Dolphins franchise that lost in the wildcard round of the playoffs each of the past two seasons.
Weaver is leaving a Ravens franchise that drafted him out of college. He spent seven seasons playing in the NFL after being drafted in the second round, No. 52 overall, in 2002.
Weaver played in 103 games in his NFL career, making 98 starts. He recorded 260 tackles and 15.5 sacks during his career.
The Ravens must now replace another defensive assistant after an excellent year that ended in disappointment. Baltimore had a great regular season, before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game with a spot in the Super Bowl on the line.

Report: Tua Tagovailoa expects to sign contract extension with Miami Dolphins this offseason
Elsewhere with the Dolphins, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa reportedly expects to sign an extension with the team this offseason, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“There’s been communication,” Tagovailoa told ESPN Friday at the Pro Bowl Games in Orlando. “I think the thing with that right now is I’m just letting the team talk to my agent and let them work that out.”
Tagovailoa, 25, is coming off his best season to date in the NFL. He paced the league with 4,624 yards to go along with a career-high 29 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on 69.3% passing. Most importantly, Tagovailoa suited up and started all 17 games this season after missing four games last season with a concussion. Miami went 11-6 before falling in the AFC Wild Card Round to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Though Miami’s season ended on a whimper in minus-degree weather, Tagovailoa said he doesn’t feel any added pressure moving forward.
“I don’t feel any pressure at all,” Tagovailoa said. “Have full trust in myself. I have full trust in what I’m capable of doing for our organization. Outside of that we’re focusing on tonight and what happened. We’re going to simmer on this and see what we can do to get better from it going into next year.”
