Dolphins RB De'Von Achane makes change to pronunciation of his name
Miami Dolphins rookie running back De’Von Achane made NFL fans all over the country learn his name on Sunday after rushing for 203 yards on 18 carries. Now, the former Aggie wants fans to actually pronounce his name correctly.
Achane informed the Dolphins and those in the media that his last name shouldn’t be pronounced A-CHAIN but A-CHAN. It’s a subtle difference but fans will pick it up quickly if he keeps making announcers yell his name multiple times each weekend.
“He would like his name to be pronounced De-Von A-Chan. Not A-Chain, as it currently is listed in the team’s media guide. A-Chan,” NFL insider Adam Schefter shared on Monday.
It’s not the first time he’s had to clear up the pronunciation of his name. Frequently called “Devin,” the running back told reporters after the draft that it’s “De-Von.”
Achane breaks loose in Week 3 win
The rookie third-rounder missed the first week of NFL games due to a shoulder injury that he sustained during the preseason. He worked his way back into the rotation by Week 2, carrying the ball just once for a five-yard game against the Patriots.
This week, Achane had what most would consider a breakout game. With the Dolphins already leading, they let the former Texas A&M star run loose. He had two touchdowns on the 18 carries he posted, plus another two touchdowns on four receptions.
The Dolphins averaged 96 rushing yards a game in 2022. That ranked as only 27th best in the league. They’re clearly boosting those numbers this season. After three games, the average rushing yards per game is now 188.3 yards.
Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert also added another rushing touchdown for Miami against the Broncos on Sunday. He’s up to 240 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the year already.

Sean Payton snaps at reporter after historic loss
Following his team’s 70-20 loss to Miami, Sean Payton wasn’t overly thrilled with the team’s performance on the field. That frustration trickled over into the press conference, where he got into a heated exchange with a reporter.
When a reporter attempted to get Payton’s thoughts on the outcome, the head coach snapped multiple times.
“What’s the question,” he said. “What’s the question?!” When the reporter then asked for how Payton felt about the game, he responded, “I just finished telling you. Next question.”
Miami became just the fourth team to score 70 points in an NFL game, including the playoffs. It’s the first time a team has scored five rushing and five passing touchdowns in a single game in the Super Bowl era, per ESPN. It was the highest-scoring game for a single team since 1966.
Tua Tagovailoa completed 23-of-26 passes for 309 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. Mike White also completed both of his throws for 67 yards and a touchdown.
