Browns RB D’Onta Foreman carted off, placed in ambulance after punt drill injury
Cleveland Browns running back D’Onta Foreman suffered a scary injury on Thursday during a training camp practice. The former Texas star was hurt during a special teams drill, according to Browns reporters.
The Cleveland Browns have released a statement detailing what happened to Foreman and updating his health.
“During practice today, Browns RB D’onta Foreman sustained a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain. The Browns athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman,” the Browns posted on Twitter. “He was taken to an ambulance and is being transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, Va., to undergo further medical evaluation.
Foreman had movement in all his extremities. Updates will be provided as more information is received.”
D’Onta Foreman is entering his first season with the Cleveland Browns after spending last year with the Chicago Bears. In total, this is his eighth year in the league.
The former All-American during his time with the Longhorns rushed for 425 yards and four touchdowns last season for the Bears. He has also previously played for the Houston Texas, Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers.
D’Onta Foreman is a part of a Browns running backs room that also includes Nick Chubb, Jerome Ford, Nyheim Hines, John Kelly Jr. and Giovanni Ricci.

Foreman was a third-round NFL Draft pick out of Texas in 2017, selected by the Houston Texans. He we cut by the Texans after two seasons and relatively scant production.

The talented running back then spent two years with the Tennessee Titans, where he appeared in 15 games. But it wasn’t until he linked up with the Carolina Panthers in 2022 that he really began to have a big impact, rushing for 914 yards and five touchdowns while playing in all 17 games.
Through his first eight years in the league, the former Longhorn has accumulated 552 carries, 2,326 rushing yards, 14 rushing touchdowns, 342 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns.
Nick Chubb is without a doubt the lead back for the Browns, but Foreman will hope to make an impact if he can stay healthy.
The Browns are coming off of a surprising 11-6 season in 2023. They will look to get back to the playoffs this year with Deshaun Watson at quarterback.
Cleveland opens the regular season on Sept. 8 against the Dallas Cowboys. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m.
