DraftKings apologizes for insensitive 9/11 parlay
DraftKings has released an apology for an insensitive parlay on September 11. The popular sports betting company featured a “Never Forget” parlay on Monday.
The parlay featured the New York Mets, New York Yankees and New York Jets to all win their games on Monday. Many criticized the company for such a ridiculous betting option.
After hearing a lot of backlash, DraftKings finally issued an apology. It also removed the parlay from its betting app.
“We sincerely apologize for the featured parlay that was shared briefly in commemoration of 9/11,” the company said in a statement. “We respect the significance of this day for our country and especially for the families of those who were directly affected.”

Words used to describe the DraftKings parlay on social media included, “disgusting,” “insensitive,” and “tacky.” It’s hard to imagine that anyone would be that naive or insensitive.
It was obviously an incredibly thoughtless move from DraftKings, but at least it corrected the wrong. Taking down the parlay and issuing an apology was the proper protocol in this situation.
