Driver nearly runs over track official during Pro Truck race at Five Flags Speedway
There are a lot of races going on at Five Flags Speedway, but last night things almost got scary with an official nearly being run over. Under caution during the Pro Truck race on Thursday night, one driver was simply not paying attention.
While it would be ideal not to have any officials on the track, that isn’t the case. There are a ton of short tracks that still have officials out on the racing surface during restarts and under caution.
That does not excuse this driver from their actions. Everyone else was able to avoid the official but this driver. Just inexcusable on all levels, and luckily the official was paying attention and moved.
No place for this at the race track.
Of course, the big show this week is the Snowball Derby. Super late model racing doesn’t get much better than what you will see this week at Five Flags Speedway. Ty Majeski, Noah Gragson, Bubba Pollard, and many others are hoping to win the Derby.
Niece Motorsports driver Kaden Honeycutt won the Pro Truck race. Honeycutt ran part-time in the Craftsman Truck Series this season with Niece. Next year he will be full-time. He has three more races lined up this week at Five Flags.
Thankfully that incident on the track wasn’t worse. Officials get run over when drivers and others aren’t paying attention. But let’s try to keep folks off the track, traditions be damned.

Noah Gragson already pissed off at Five Flags Speedway
Snowball Derby week at Five Flags Speedway is a long one. There aren’t many events like this in racing anymore where you have so much testing, practice, and build-up to the big show on Sunday. It’s an old-school style that racers and fans love.
But Noah Gragson is already making enemies this week. To be more accurate, people are making enemies out of Gragson. William Sawalich is not going to get a Christmas card this year after moving Gragson up the track during the first practice session of the week.
“He’s tucked up behind me on a mock run, which doesn’t make any sense,” Gragson said. “Then he picks us up and sends us down in Turn 1. Just, it’s unnecessary, but you just can’t fix stupid.”
Five Flags Speedway is a track that brings out all of the emotions. There is a lot on the line in the Snowball Derby and drivers are going to be pushing the limits every day until Sunday’s race is over.
