Duke guard Tyrese Proctor declares for 2025 NBA Draft

Duke guard Tyrese Proctor has declared for the 2025 NBA Draft. He spent three seasons with the Blue Devils.
Proctor started in all 38 of his appearances for Duke this season. He averaged a career-high 12.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 30.0 minutes per game. The 6-foot-6 guard shot 45.2% from the field and 40.5% from beyond the arc.
Proctor was key to the Blue Devils’ run to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament. The Australian scored 17 or more points in three of Duke’s five tournament games.
He was particularly excellent in the Blue Devils’ 89-66 blowout win over Baylor in the Round of 32. In the triumph, Proctor erupted for 25 points while shooting 7-8 from 3-point range. For his excellent play this season, Proctor was an All-ACC Third-Team selection. He also received one vote for the conference’s Most Improved Player of the Year Award.
In total, Proctor amassed 106 appearances and 97 starts during his career at Duke. Blue Devils head coach Jon Scheyer didn’t take Proctor’s loyalty to the program for granted.
“If I’m an NBA team, I’m going after him because you have to handle adversity. I think that speaks a lot to his character and, obviously, our friendship,” Scheyer said about Proctor after Duke’s win over Baylor. “I think in this era, you guys cover this, you understand the challenges and NIL and transfer portal and all that, still to have the relationships you can build with a guy for three years and go through a lot, I’m obviously really proud of him.”

Tyrese Proctor played high school basketball at the NBA Global Academy, where he was a four-star recruit. He was the No. 46 overall player and No. 6 point guard in the 2022 recruiting cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
ESPN projected Proctor to be the No. 52 overall pick in its latest mock draft. He is far from the only Blue Devil who is expected to be called up to the next level this offseason.
Cooper Flagg, Kon Kneuppel and Khaman Maluach are each projected to be lottery picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. If all goes well for Proctor, he’ll be able to square off against his teammates on basketball’s biggest stage next season.
Proctor won’t have to wait much longer to find out his fate. The 2025 NBA Draft is set to take place on June 25.
