Dylan Crews played in his first MLB game on Monday night, marking the first milestone of his career. One night later, he was able to collect his first-ever hit. The Crews account is officially open in our nation’s capital, one the Nationals hope is open for a long time.

To make matters better, Crews got the hit against one of baseball’s top pitchers, Gerrit Cole. Up in the count 2-0 in the second inning, Cole left a breaking ball over the lower third of the plate. Crews got it deep into left field, bouncing off the wall.

“Welcome to the show, indeed,” MASN play-by-play announcer Charlie Slowes said on the call as Crews trotted into second base. A runner was already on first base and advanced to third as the throw came in.

Nationals fans were more than aware of the occasion too, giving him an ovation for his first big league knock.

Crews finished 0-3 in the MLB debut, adding a strikeout. However, a walk did mean the youngster did get on base. Washington slotted him second in the lineup due to Nestor Cortes, a left-hander, being on the mound for New York.

Cole on the bump Tuesday night meant a slide down in the lineup. Crews is in the bottom third at the No. 7 spot but the results are a whole lot better.

Next up on the bucket list is perhaps the first RBI or even home run. Even better, Crews could check both off with one swing of the bat. A promising start to a career many folks in Washington are excited about.
