A.J. Brown wears Alabama sweatshirt after losing bet on Ole Miss game
Ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles‘ Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, star wide receiver A.J. Brown boarded the team plane wearing an Alabama Crimson Tide hoodie.
The team’s social media account shared a clip of the former Ole Miss Rebels standout donning the sweatshirt and giving multiple thumbs down as he rolled his luggage across the tarmac. The scene looked extra dreary thanks to the rain coming down in Philly.
The team account captioned the clip, “DeVonta Smith and/or Jalen Hurts can you explain this?” suggesting it was either the former first-round wide receiver or the former Tide QB’s idea to get Brown to wear the Bama garb if the Crimson Tide beat the Rebels on Saturday, which they did 24-10.
The Eagles, 2-0 with wins over the Patriots and Vikings, travel to Tampa Bay for the 7: 15 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC. The Buccaneers are also 2-0 on the year with former Browns first-rounder Baker Mayfield leading the team on offense.
Brown may have taken the loss on Saturday but he’s favored to win with Philadelphia on Monday. The Buccaneers are 4.5-point underdogs at home after Week 1 and Week 2 wins over the Vikings and Bears.
Alabama snags victory over Ole Miss
Alabama’s triumph over Ole Miss on Saturday was considered a must-have win for Nick Saban’s Tide after an unimpressive 17-3 win over USF last week. During an appearance on “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning,” Paul Finebaum broke down the victory’s impact on the Crimson Tide.

“It was a necessary and significant win for Alabama,” Finebaum said. “They finally cleaned up a couple of things that had been gnawing at them, although they also made some of the same mistakes.
“The defense was really incredibly impressive, especially in the second half. Milroe survived some very anxious moments. The line seemed to protect him a little bit more. Decision-making was better and, overall, I thought it was a game-changer in terms of changing the narrative.”
Finebaum believes Saban can once again use a win over Lane Kiffin and Co. as a springboard for the rest of the season.
“Anytime [Saban] gets down, he just needs to look on the schedule and see where Lane Kiffin will show,” Finebaum said. “Beating Kiffin got him toward the finish line of the (last) season in good shape and the same thing happened this time around. Coach Saban needs to call the commissioner and always schedule Ole Miss in a rough spot on the schedule.”
