Eagles QB Kenny Pickett tackles himself on bizarre pass attempt vs. Cowboys
Kenny Pickett avoided disaster Sunday during a pass attempt for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Dallas Cowboys.
During the second quarter, Pickett dropped back to throw and it appeared his glove got stuck to the ball and he spiked the ball to the turf. During the replay, Pickett’s hand was hit, but the follow through on the pass caused the ball to go into the turf and Pickett nearly hit a cartwheel in the process.
You can see the play below.
The Eagles ended up getting a first down via a penalty, but it was still a bizarre sequence. Of course, Pickett picked it up and led Philadelphia down the field for the go-ahead touchdown, a throw to DeVonta Smith.
Pickett basically went on a rollercoaster ride himself and it was certainly a rollercoaster start to the game. But, the Eagles’ backup QB, filling in for the injured Jalen Hurts, put Philadelphia ahead 14-7 with less than seven minutes left in the half.
Through nearly a half, Pickett was seven-of-nine passing for 77 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles scored their first touchdown on a CJ Gardner-Johnson pick six on the opening drive.

As far as Hurts is concerned, he might be out until the playoffs, depending upon what the Eagles need to do in terms of seeding.
“Jalen Hurts, they hope he can come back Week 18,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. “He’s still in the early stages of that concussion protocol, yet to step onto the practice field for any sort of meaningful snaps. And look, if they lock up the NFC East, yeah, how much do they need (Hurts in Week 18)?”
If the Eagles win without Hurts in Week 17, they’ll be 13-3, NFC East champions and the No. 2 seed in the playoffs. To get the No. 1 seed, Philadelphia would have to win Week 18 against the New York Giants, have the Detroit Lions lose to the San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings in their final two games and have the Vikings lose to the Green Bay Packers Sunday.
