Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert accidentally thought Taylor Swift was a member of the R&B group TLC. During Super Bowl LIX Opening Night, Goedert was asked if he could name any of Swift’s songs.

“Is she the one that sings ‘Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls?'” Geodert asked reporters on Monday night. “She doesn’t? …She’s an incredible artist, but she ain’t on my playlist. I’m more of the Philly guys, the Meek Mill; obviously been listening to a lot of Kendrick Lamar. Won’t get to see him at the halftime show, but I’m sure he’s going to put on quite the performance.”

The song Goedert was referring to is called “Waterfalls” by TLC. It was released in 1995, which would have made Taylor Swift around five or six years old. TLC was formed in 1990 in Atlanta and was composed of T-Boz (Tionne Watkins), Left Eye ( Lisa Lopes) and Chilli (Rozonda Thomas). Left Eye died in a car accident in 2001.

“Waterfalls” is one of TLC’s biggest, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 1996. The song was part of the album CrazySexyCool which earned the group a Grammy for Best R&B Album.

More on Dallas Goedert and Taylor Swift

Swift’s notable songs are “22”, “Shake it Off,” “Anti-Hero” and “Cruel Summer,” just to name a few. On Sunday, the 35-year-old attended the Grammy Awards as she was nominated in six categories. She didn’t win any Grammys on Sunday but has won 14 in her career.

This Sunday, Swift will be focused on Super Bowl LIX as she will likely be at the game to support her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The two have been dating since the summer/fall of 2023, and Swift has appeared in multiple games in the last two seasons.

Kelce and the Chiefs are looking to make history, becoming the first time to win three consecutive Super Bowls. The only problem is they are facing an Eagles team with a lot of momentum. Dallas Goedert has been with the Eagles since being drafted by the team in 2018 and has been a steady hand at the tight end position. This year, Goedert played in just nine games during the regular season due to multiple injuries and finished the season with 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games. In the Eagles’ three playoff games, Goedert has caught 15 passes for 188 yards and one score.
