Fans of LSU football are all too familiar with the duo of Ja’marr Chase and Joe Burrow that has helped propel the Cincinnati Bengals to their first Super Bowl appearance in 36 years. The duo was a big part of the historic national championship run by the LSU Tigers back in 2019, led by Ed Orgeron. And now that his Bayou Bengals turn Cincinnati Bengals are just one win away from another championship season, Oregeron has provided us with his perspective on why the duo is so special.

On Tuesday, the former head coach at LSU was a guest on McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning. His first order of business was highlighting exactly when he knew Burrow was something special.

“You know, first of all, he showed up with a great work ethic; he was focused. He had to win the team over. We had two quarterbacks that impressed the team, that the team thought they were going to be the starting quarterback. Joe started as the 14th quarterback. He had to work his way up. So I watched him, on a daily basis, work hard, keep his mouth shut, and win the team over. That one of the most impressive things that I seen from Joe in the beginning.”

This season Burrow completed 70.4 percent of his passes in the regular season, putting up 4,611 passing yards, throwing 34 touchdowns and just 14 interceptions. Moreover, he heated up when the stakes were at their highest: in the final two weeks of the regular season, in wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs, Burrow completed a cumulative 67-of-85 passes for 971 passing yards, eight passing touchdowns and no interceptions.

Odell Beckham Jr on Joe Burrow

Odell Beckham Jr. is a massive fan of his upcoming opponent, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow — both of who first made their mark at LSU.

In a press conference leading up to Sunday’s NFL clash between the two LSU Tigers greats, Beckham was asked about his relationship and thoughts on Burrow. He delivered a hilarious response while giving an insightful answer to the question.

After raving about the Bengals’ signal caller and taking fans back to the time they met, Odell Beckham suddenly grinned.

“Umm, Joe Burrow, is yes, cool for sure,” Beckham said. “The guy is smooth, and truly, I was from afar, but getting to meet him around championship time, going back and kind of just kickin’ it with him, you can’t help but like this guy.”
