Report: Eli Manning expected to put together bid for stake in New York Giants

Eli Manning could be taking a step toward becoming an NFL owner. He is expected to put together a group to bid for a stake in the New York Giants, Bloomberg’s Gillian Tan and Randall Williams reported.
Manning has had conversations with potential investors – including retired NFL players, according to Bloomberg. The Giants announced the exploration of a potential sale of a minority, non-controlling stake in the franchise in February.
Bloomberg reported up to 10% of the Giants is up for sale. However, that number could be divided among multiple investors.
Manning won two Super Bowls with the Giants, who acquired him in a trade with the San Diego Chargers during the 2004 NFL Draft. During his 16-year career in New York, he made four Pro Bowls and earned Super Bowl MVP in each of his victories over Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the big game.
Manning was asked about potentially buying a stake in the Giants in January. He admitted there would only be one team he’d like to pursue and strongly hinted at which one it was.

“It’s definitely something of interest,” Manning told CNBC at the time. “There’s probably only one team I’d be interested in pursuing, and it’s the one I played for for 16 years, and it’s local, and makes the most sense, but we just got to figure out if they would ever sell a little bit.”
Since retiring from football in 2019, Manning worked alongside his brother Peyton for regular broadcasts of Monday Night Football. Peyton Manning founded Omaha Productions and co-hosts the “ManningCast” alongside Eli on ESPN2 throughout the season, opposite the main broadcast on ESPN.
If Eli Manning was to acquire a stake in the Giants, he’d join Tom Brady as former players to own part of a franchise. Brady acquired a 10% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders last season, which created conversation about his role as a color analyst for FOX Sports alongside lead play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt. Per NFL rules, Brady cannot attend production meetings or practices for FOX due to his role as a team owner.
The Giants are now turning their attention toward rookie minicamp and OTAs following the 2025 NFL Draft. The franchise took a quarterback in the first round, trading up for Jaxson Dart – who played at Manning’s alma mater, Ole Miss. Manning also offered a message to the incoming rookie after the draft about playing in New York.
