ESPN: Aaron Rodgers contract details with Pittsburgh Steelers revealed

Aaron Rodgers officially signed his one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The insider had the details and incentives.
“ESPN sources: Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers was in the team’s training facility today to sign his one-year, $13.65 million contract that includes $10 million guaranteed and has a maximum value of $19.5 million,” Schefter wrote on Twitter. “The deal includes $5.85 million worth of playtime and team performance incentives.”
If Rodgers didn’t sign with the Steelers, there were rumors they could look to trade for Kirk Cousins, who’s currently in Atlanta. Now, he’s left as a the backup to Michael Penix Jr. while Rodgers plays in the Steel City for 2025.
Rodgers took his time this offseason after parting ways with the New York Jets. While he publicly said he was dealing with some personal issues, some thought Rodgers could ultimately hang it up for good. But, he informed Pittsburgh he would indeed sign.
He spent two years with the Jets after coming over from the Green Bay Packers, but his first season in New York ended on his first drive of the 2023 season due to an Achilles injury. In 2024, he threw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns, along with 11 interceptions, marking two straight full seasons with at least 10 picks.

Last offseason, the Steelers acquired Justin Fields from the Chicago Bears and signed Russell Wilson to a one-year deal following his release from the Denver Broncos. Head coach Mike Tomlin named Wilson the starter over Fields coming out of training camp and the preseason, but a calf injury forced him to miss the first six games of the season.
Fields led Pittsburgh to a 4-2 record before making way for Wilson. The Steelers won six of Wilson’s first seven starts. At one point, Pittsburgh carried a 10-3 record and occupied first place in a competitive AFC North.
A four-game losing streak to end the regular season meant that Pittsburgh would have to play on the road as a Wild Card against the Baltimore Ravens, who captured the division crown for the second consecutive season. Pittsburgh dropped its sixth consecutive playoff game dating back to 2016 under Tomlin.
The Steelers knew they needed an upgrade at the quarterback position. They brought back Mason Rudolph and selected Will Howard in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
