ESPN announces 2023 NFL Draft dual broadcast, coverage assignments

The biggest offseason event is set to take place in late May, with Kansas City hosting the 2023 NFL Draft. As usual, ESPN will play a major role as they are once again scheduled to broadcast live on the scene. Some of the network’s biggest personalities are scheduled to be on your television over the course of three days.

Multiple different channels will broadcast the draft, with ESPN getting a huge crew of all-stars. Mike Greenberg will play host, with Louis Riddick, Booger McFarland, and Mel Kiper Jr. sitting at the desk. Fans of the draft have gotten used to seeing Kiper in draft coverage, with this being his 40th different NFL Draft.

Suzy Kolber will be there interviewing players after their name is called by Commissioner Roger Goodell. And then alongside her, Adam Schefter and Chris Mortenson will be providing inside information. While ESPN does have some talented personalities, you would be hard-pressed to find a better crew to break down the draft for us viewers at home.

Outside of Kansas City, five reporters will be in the cities of top NFL draft rooms. Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis, Seattle, and Detroit will all have on-site reporters, giving on-air reports of their every draft night move.

This group will feature on ESPN during the first two days, spanning from the first round until the conclusion of the third round.

ABC to bring college flair to NFL Draft

Of course, the players being selected in the NFL Draft come from the college ranks. Nobody has covered their careers more than ESPN’s college football broadcasting team. They will once again have a platform to give their analysis, with ABC having the broadcasting.

The usual College GameDay — Rece Davis, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard, and David Pollack — crew will be there. Mel Kiper’s usual partner in crime, Todd McShay, will feature on ESPN as he does college coverage during the season on the sideline.

Robert Griffin III, Pete Thamel, Laura Rutledge, and Samantha Ponder will feature as well. Rutledge is another example of a crossover episode, featuring heavily in SEC coverage while also hosting NFL Live on a daily basis.

Much like their NFL-centric colleagues, the college crew will feature on ABC during the first two nights of the NFL Draft. A different approach will be brought by the impressive group — having the opportunity to cover their careers over the past three to four years.
