ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky is making a bold proclamation as Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs chase their third consecutive Super Bowl.

If the franchise is able to complete the three-peat, Kelce would win his fourth Super Bowl ring, and Orlovsky believes there wouldn’t be anything left for the star tight end to accomplish in the NFL. The ESPN analyst thinks retirement would be on the table, as long as Kansas City is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy once again.

“Kelce is fully capable of being the difference maker. I think he’s got one great run left,” Orlovsky said via First Take. “I think if he goes and has that vintage Kelce performances, which I fully 1. think he’s capable of, and 2. will do, and they go on and three-peat, I think retirement becomes a very real thing for Travis Kelce.

“There would be nothing else to accomplish. He’d be arguably the greatest tight end of all time. He would be the tight end that was part of [Chiefs] only three-peat in the history of the NFL. He’s obviously later in his career. I don’t think there would be anything left. And I think he’s got one, elite, great, difference-maker, vintage, ‘oh my Gosh, he did it again’ run left in him.”

Orlovsky makes some compelling points. If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl yet again, there wouldn’t be anything left for Kelce to accomplish in the NFL. He could move on to other ventures, as he’s excelled in the podcasting world, and he’s recently taken up acting, as well.

Additionally, one has to keep in mind his relationship with arguably the most famous artist in the entire world, as he’s been dating Taylor Swift for over a year now. If Kelce does retire, there certainly won’t be any shortage of activities for him to partake in, as he dives head first into the new world that he’s been living in since linking up with the music superstar.

Even with a bevy of distractions, Kelce still helped the Chiefs go 15-2 on the season, catching 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. It’s far from his gaudy numbers that we’ve seen him put up in the past, but Kelce is only concerned about wins at this point of his career, and that’ll be the case throughout the playoffs.

Travis Kelce is already a Super Bowl champion, Hall of Famer and arguably the greatest tight end of all time. Dan Orlovsky makes some salient points. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he walks away at the end of the 2024 campaign.
