ESPN catches JuJu Watkins, Jayden Daniels sharing moment in stands during NCAA Tournament

JuJu Watkins is a star that draws plenty of eyeballs and attention to women’s basketball. And on Saturday, she had one of the biggest NFL stars out there come to one of her games in Washington Commanders signal-caller Jayden Daniels. Watkins was in the stands after her game and the ESPN cameras caught her sharing a brief moment with the dynamic signal-caller.
Watkins rolled her ankle on Saturday, but appeared to be fine and returned to the game. Her status will be important to monitor moving forward.
The Trojans handled UNC Greensboro in blowout fashion, 71-25. Watkins finished with 22 points and eight rebounds in their opening round win. Kiki Iriafen also stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while dishing out two assists and grabbing one steal.
USC had a dominant advantage on the glass Saturday, outrebounding the Spartans 60-34. Not only that, but they also forced UNCG into 23 turnovers. Neither team shot particularly well, but UNCG was abysmal, hitting just 7 of 54 shots from the field (13.0%). The Trojans connected on 27 of 72 shots from the field (37.5%). USC had some pretty exceptional defense, with 17 steals on Saturday.

Next up, Watkins and the Trojans will face off against Mississippi State. The Bulldogs defeated California on Saturday, 59-46. USC currently sits at 29-3 overall this season. They lost to UCLA in the Big Ten Championship Game, 72-67.
Jayden Daniels won NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honors this year, leading the Washington Commanders to the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In the regular season, he completed 69.0% of his passes for 3,568 passing yards, while tossing in 25 touchdowns with nine interceptions.
As a runner, he finished with 148 carries for 891 rushing yards and six touchdowns. He’s already taken the NFL by storm, but that type of performance is expected when a franchise uses a Top 5 pick. It’ll be exciting to watch the Commanders in the future with Daniels at the helm.
