As the quarterback carousel continues to turn in the NFL, the landing spot for Shedeur Sanders in the 2025 NFL Draft is murkier than ever. There’s a couple of teams who could be options for the former Colorado quarterback, but there’s no clear favorite to land his services next month.

The Cleveland Browns at No. 2, the New York Giants at No. 3 and the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6 seem plausible, but they each have veteran quarterbacks roaring to start in 2025. Whether it’s the top three, ten or simply the first round as a whole, Sanders has a large range of places he could land, it’s just tough to pinpoint one at the moment.

Jeremy Fowler tried to make sense of it all. Ahead of Sanders participating in Colorado’s in-house pro day this coming Friday, the ESPN analyst relayed what he’s hearing regarding the quarterback’s status at the moment.

“From what I’m hearing, the Browns at No. 2, the Giants at No. 3 have Shedeur Sanders at least in consideration, in the mix — although the Browns seem to be leaning pass rusher Abdul Carter at this point. But the tricky part with Sanders is where he falls, because I texted with a half-dozen high-level personnel people that I trust asking, ‘Is Shedeur Sanders a first round talent? Do you have a first round grade on him?’ Four of those people said, ‘No.’ Two of those people said, ‘He’s more of a mid-to-late first-round pick in their eyes.’ So, we know quarterbacks get pushed up, get over-drafted, but to go in the top three at this point in the minds of many around the league would be pretty rich.

“So, if he doesn’t fall there, where does he fall? You know, the Saints have been doing a lot of quarterback work. They’re picking No. 9. The Pittsburgh Steelers, as we know, looking at a lot of quarterbacks, picking at No. 21. So, he’ll have a home. Maybe the Las Vegas Raiders. That would be a good fit behind Geno Smith for a year or two. So certainly, he’s expected to go in the first round somewhere, pretty high. But not a slam-dunk in the top three, based on the way the teams see him around league.”

As you can tell, there’s no shortage of options for Sanders in the NFL Draft. It seems universally agreed upon his won’t usurp Cam Ward as QB1 over the next few weeks, but it’d be shocking to see him passed by someone like Jaxson Dart for QB2. That leaves a host of teams ready to turn the card in immediately if Sanders is still sitting in the green room.

All told, Shedeur Sanders will have his chance to convince NFL squads he’s worth a top pick when his pro day rolls around, but time will tell what his future holds. He helped transform two college football programs over the past couple of seasons, and he’ll be hoping to bring that moxie to whichever team makes him their future.
