There has been extensive debate about whether it would make sense for Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders to go to the NFL to coach his son, Shedeur, when he gets his opportunity next year.

Much of the conversation regarding the Sanders family has been related to the Dallas Cowboys. However, analysts on ESPN’s morning show Get Up shared that there are more than a few teams that could make some sense. That includes the Las Vegas Raiders as host Mike Greenberg began to explain.

“The team a lot of people are going to look at is going to be Vegas,” Greenberg said. “For the conversation you’re having. They figure to have a high pick, they need a quarterback, they got shut out last year. There were six quarterbacks that went ahead of their pick. They weren’t expecting that, they didn’t get the guy they wanted. [Tom] Brady is there now. I think that’s a place a lot of people are gonna be looking.”

At that time, Harry Douglass jumped in to further explain why, at least, Shedeur Sanders going to the Raiders would make sense to him, given his relationship with the organization.

“I think the Tom Brady angle of it is very important because Shedeur Sanders trained and worked out with Tom Brady,” Douglass said. “So, the relationship is there between Shedeur and Tom Brady. Deion Sanders and Tom Brady. Also, we’ve seen, recently, Shedeur at a basketball game with and the owner of the Las Vegas Raiders [Mark Davis] was there, talking about how much he enjoyed Shedeur Sanders.”

At the college level, Shedeur Sanders followed his father from Jackson State to Colorado. Along the way, he has consistently performed at a high level. Through nine games in 2024, he’s completed 72.9 percent of his passes for 2,882 yards and 24 touchdowns with only six interceptions. That’s made him appear to be the top quarterback pick in the NFL Draft.

Adam Schefter concluded the segment by emphasizing that there is nothing set in stone. The two may not make the move to the NFL together. To do so, it would probably take a team with a high pick being willing to make that move. For now, the Raiders make sense but it’s all hypothetical.

“The point is that this is just going to be an option that’s out there. We’re not saying it’s happening. We’re saying that this is one of those options that’s going to heat up, that’s going to be in play this offseason. Is there a team out there that’s in position to get Shedeur Sanders that’s also in a position to get Deion Sanders to marry them up moving forward,” Schefter said.

“Maybe it’ll happen. Maybe it won’t. It’s damn fun to talk about and think about.”
