ESPN report: Jimmy Garoppolo passes training camp physical with Las Vegas Raiders
Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo has passed his training camp physical and is expected to begin training camp with his teammates Wednesday, per a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Garoppolo, who spent the offseason recovering surgery on his left foot, avoids the Physically Unable to Perform list (PUP). The 31-year-old previously failed a physical in March after signing a three-year, $72.75 million deal with the Raiders. Garoppolo’s failed physical resulted in Las Vegas rescinding the $11.25 million signing bonus and pushing it into base salary, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said last month he had “no anxiety” concerning Garoppolo’s injury situation.
“I have no anxiety,” McDaniels said. “You guys might have anxiety. I don’t have any anxiety. I’m not going to put a timeline on it or a day or anything. But like I said, I have no anxiety. Feel pretty good about it.”

Jimmy Garoppolo entering 1st season with Las Vegas Raiders
Surrounded by a Pro Bowl cast of weapons in San Francisco including running back Christian McCaffrey, receiver Deebo Samuel and tight end George Kittle, Garoppolo walks into a similar situation in Las Vegas. Garoppolo will have the opportunity to throw passes to star receiver Davante Adams. Adams compiled his third consecutive 1,000-yard season in 2022. Appearing on “The Jim Rome Show” recently, Adams expressed his excitement to get to work with Garoppolo.
“That’s really how I developed and continue to have confidence moving forward in my career is all through the way that I prepare and the way that I practice every day,” Adams said, via Sports Illustrated. “So, Aaron [Rodgers] and I didn’t start off the way that we ended. So, it takes time, and it’s definitely a process. But something that I bought into and I’m determined to make sure that we go out there and do the best that we can, get on the same page. That way, it doesn’t look any different than it has in the past.”
