ESPN set to release new Monday Night Football anthem featuring Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and Cindy Blackman Santana
A new theme song is coming to ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The network teased the new song with a post on X (formerly Twitter) hours before Monday’s NFL double-header.
ESPN is putting a new twist on a classic song. The trio of Chris Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and Cindy Blackman Santana team up for a new rendition of Phil Collins’ In the Air Tonight. The new theme makes its debut in Week 2.
ESPN is airing a Monday Night Football double-header, an excellent way to ring in new theme music. The New Orleans Saints play the Carolina Panthers at 7:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ESPN2. The Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers go head-to-head at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN+.
Here’s the sneak peek at the new song, which will air on ESPN:
What are your initial thoughts on the new song?
At first, you might wonder why ESPN felt the need to remake the classic song from Collins. After all, it’s still one of the most-played tunes during games, primarily because of the epic drum solo.
But this isn’t a bad attempt at a cover for the popular song. As time goes on, it will probably continue to gain popularity. We’ll wait and see what the reception is on social media when it makes its debut Monday night.

The Saints enter Monday’s game with a 1-0 record, opening the season with an important victory over the Titans. Meanwhile, Carolina is trying to even its record at 1-1 after falling to the Falcons to start the 2023 regular season.
In the AFC, Cleveland is looking to build off an impressive 24-3 win over the Bengals last Sunday. The Steelers, on the other hand, are hoping to bounce back after an ugly loss to the 49ers to open the season.
It should be an exciting night of football. We don’t often get double-headers for Monday Night Football, so having a pair of divisional matchups makes it even more enticing.
There will also be a double-header for next Monday night. The Eagles play the Buccaneers and the Rams take on the Bengals before the NFL schedule dwindles down to just one Monday Night Football game for a good chunk of the season.
