An important NFL Draft is ahead of the Dallas Cowboys. With a plethora of roster spots still needing filling, they will be relying on multiple rookies heading into the 2025 season. And with only three picks inside the top 100, making sure they hit is incredibly important.

Multiple positions are in consideration for the Cowboys come late April. ESPN’s Adam Schefter highlighted three that he believes is the mot important — two of which are on the offensive side of the ball.

“I think when you’re the Dallas Cowboys, you’ve got to find a way, somehow, to come up with a cornerback,” Schefter said via Shan & RJ on Dallas’ 105.3 The Fan. “Another cornerback because there are some questions there. I think that they could certainly use another running back because everyone knows and it’s a deep running back draft. So, this is the right draft to need a running back. I still think they’ll add a wide receiver by the time draft weekend comes and goes.

“Those, to me, are three positions that stand out. They’re far from the only ones. Certainly, they could use another offensive lineman, certainly they could use defensive line. You could use help everywhere, let’s be honest. But if I’m looking at three positions that stand out to me — corner, running back, wide receiver.”

Running back and wide receiver have been popular for Dallas when looking at mock drafts. The latest from ESPN’s Mel Kiper has them taking Arizona‘s Tetairoa McMillan at No. 12 overall. And for the longest time, Ashton Jeanty out of Boise State was the default pick.

But the first position Schefter mentions, cornerback, may be going under the radar. The Cowboys lost Jourdan Lewis to free agency this offseason. Trevon Diggs is still recovering from a long-term injury and the front office has suggested he might not be ready for the beginning of the season. DaRon Bland is the lone big-name player in the room entering the final year of his rookie contract.

Just over two weeks are still between now and the draft taking place in Green Bay. There are still plenty of top 30 visits for Dallas to host, figuring out their board. At some point, the list of who they will want to take at 12, 44, and 76 will come to fruition. However, Schefter feels like he has a good idea of what positions will be considered.
