Evan Engram injury update: Doug Pederson updates Jaguars TE’s status for Monday Night Football
The Jacksonville Jaguars need all the help they can get after starting the season 0-2, but it appears as though they could be without one of their top weapons in Evan Engram for a little while longer.
There seems to be some serious doubt that the Jacksonville tight end will be able to play on Monday Night Football against the Buffalo Bills.
Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Thursday that Evan Engram “is a little bit further away,” per Ian Rapoport.
Engram was injured in warmups last week ahead of Jacksonville’s game with the Cleveland Browns. He missed that game and now could miss a second straight game.

Evan Engram has been one of the top weapons for Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence over the past few seasons. The former Ole Miss star had the best year of his career in 2023, catching 114 passes for 963 yards and four touchdowns. He earned the second Pro Bowl selection of his career in the process.
A former first-round pick of the New York Giants, Engram caught one pass for five yards in Jacksonville’s opener against the Miami Dolphins. Still, he is expected to be a big part of the offense whenever he returns to the field.
Trevor Lawrence after Jaguars loss to Browns: ‘We suck right now’
Without Evan Engram on Sunday, the Jaguars struggled against the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Trevor Lawrence was honest after the game about the way Jacksonville played.

“We suck right now,” he told reporters postgame. “I’m pretty shocked. Obviously, we had a great offseason and a great training camp and we’ve gotta figure it out.”
Jacksonville dropped to 0-2 on the young season with the loss and certainly has some things to figure out. The Jaguars are coming off of back-to-back 9-8 seasons but missed the playoffs in 2023.
Lawrence completed less than half of his passes against the Browns as he threw for 220 yards and failed to score any touchdowns. It’s been a frustrating start for the fourth-year quarterback, who has been sacked seven times through the first two games.
Lawrence was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Clemson. He has taken the Jaguars to the playoffs one time in his first three years and many believed he could get them back there this year. Jacksonville had the second-best odds to win the AFC South entering the season behind Houston.
However, with the way things have started, Lawrence is rightfully worried about the direction the team is headed. He’ll certainly need his offensive line to offer better protection for him to find his receivers, and he’s also still looking to establish a top target.
