Bengals kicker Evan McPherson has a persona that has taken over in Cincinnati. Their run to the Super Bowl certainly didn’t hurt the popularity of ‘Money Mac’. The former Florida kicker is now on to his next campaign and is advocating for an all-new tradition for kickers.

His latest movement is to get kickers their own walk up music. He told NFL Network in an interview from training camp that, much like players in the MLB, he thinks it could bring a whole new excitement to his position and to the game.

“Yeah, I think that’s a really great idea,” said McPherson. “Just like in baseball, I think they should kind of implement in football because I think it could bring a whole new level of excitement to the game-winning field goal.”

McPherson may be the kicker who would overall have most to gain with this change. As a rookie, he made kicking an exciting aspect of the game with his growing personality from throughout the season. Hitting five game-winning kicks last year didn’t hurt his case either.

For his song, he says he would need to lean into the performance from during the Bengals Super Bowl appearance. He went with ‘Slim Shady’ and one of his classics as his potential walk up in the future.

“I think I’d have to go back to my Super Bowl days and pick an artist from there. I’m gonna go with ‘Without Me’ by Eminem,” said McPherson.

Altogether, this would be an interesting addition to the atmosphere of football. With kicking taking a back seat, this would give kickers like McPherson a better opportunity to show off their character. Who knows, though? ‘Guess who’s back, back again’ may be an anthem in Cincinnati if they were to make another run to the Super Bowl this season.
