Don’t tell all those folks that haven’t watched NASCAR since 2005. Fans are PACKED into the stands at North Wilkesboro already. And it’s just for the Truck Series race! The fans in and around North Wilkesboro have turned out in massive numbers to give these truck drivers their best crowd of the season.

With NASCAR putting together this All-Star Race and reviving the North Wilkesboro track, enthusiasm and promise is all over the place. I’d like for you to find a Truck Series race that had a crowd quite as big as this one.

Jeff Gluck of The Athletic had a video of the crowd that showed a little bit of the wave of fans. However, it is packed all around the track for this Tyson 250.

I saw it at Talladega during the GEICO 500. These fans have turned out at North Wilkesboro. There is real momentum going in the sport right now. In-person fans are starting to return. Of course, those two events are outliers compared to many of the other races we see during the season.

Still, you can’t look at the crowd for this race and not be impressed. 27 years in the making, NASCAR returns to North Wilkesboro and the fans have let them know how much it means to them. Corey Heim leads from the pole in this one.

North Wilkesboro ready for Truck Series action

This is the only points-paying race this weekend in NASCAR. The NASCAR All-Star Race is just an exhibition for a big paycheck. This Tyson 250 is a chance for these Truck Series drivers to move up the standings, and one driver will pick up a win.

NASCAR’s very own Field of Dreams. Many of these drivers weren’t even born when NASCAR last raced at this track. What this weekend is about is defining the 75th Anniversary of NASCAR, combining history with modernity and coming out with an entirely new product.

So, what can we expect from the racing? It’s going to be slippery. This track is going to hurt some of these trucks this weekend. There won’t be a lot of grip under these drivers and eventually, someone will have to move up to the top of the track.

North Wilkesboro is back after 27 long years. Let’s enjoy it!
