FedEx is expected to buy roughly the same number of paint schemes from Joe Gibbs Racing in 2024 as it did this past season, per a report from Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal.

FedEx, which has sponsored the No. 11 Toyota driven by Denny Hamlin since his NASCAR Cup Series debut in 2005, previously reduced its primary count to around a dozen as a result of broader cost-cutting efforts. The company initially began cutting back from sponsoring the full season in 2021.

With FedEx cutting back in recent seasons, Joe Gibbs Racing has had sponsorships from other companies such as SportsClips Hair Cuts, Interstate Batteries, GlaxoSmithKline’s Shingrix vaccine and Acumatica. FedEx’s previous agreement with the race team was set to end after the 2023 campaign.

In September, Hamlin signed a multiyear contract extension to remain with Joe Gibbs Racing.

“Joe Gibbs Racing has been my home for almost 20 years now,” Hamlin said in a press release. “My relationship with Joe [Gibbs], my team and everyone at JGR means a lot to me. We have accomplished so much together over the years. I’m excited to finally announce this so we can put all our focus on chasing the championship.”

FedEx, Denny Hamlin returning to Joe Gibbs Racing in 2024

Hamlin, 43, has won all 51 of his races behind the wheel of the No. 11 car. Though he has yet to claim a Cup Series championship, he’s been as consistent a driver on the circuit over the past near two decades. Hamlin has finished in the top-10 of the points standings 15 times, finishing fifth this past season.

“Really happy about the year in general,” Hamlin said after his elimination from the playoffs. “I thought substantially faster this year at all racetracks than what we were last year. It’s racing, right? This is the Playoffs. You got a three-race season. The 12 car showed up this round, right? He deserves to be in that Final 4. The performance they had today was phenomenal. I’m just happy for those guys. One more week.”
