Fire at Tyreek Hill's house ruled accidental

Following a blaze at the home of Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill on Wednesday that left no one injured, firefighters have identified the source of the fire. While the fire was ruled “unintentional, accidental” by the Davie Fire Rescue, they determined the cause to be a child playing with a lighter or matches, according to WSVN in Miami.
Firefighters battled the flames on the roof of Hill’s seven-bedroom home and even knocked out a portion of the roof to better combat the blaze. The Dolphins announced the news of the fire on Wednesday afternoon after the wide receiver rushed home. They revealed that even though there were members of Hill’s family at the home at the time, no one was harmed.
According to Hill’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, the fire didn’t spread beyond the room that it started in. The agent gave a statement about the incident on Wednesday.
“It is very difficult for anybody, obviously, to have your home catch on fire, but Hill was handling it with as much poise as you can hope,” Rosenhaus said.

Reportedly, Hill purchased the estate for $6.9 million back in 2022, when he first became a member of the Miami Dolphins. He moved following a trade away from the Kansas City Chiefs, where he won a Super Bowl alongside Patrick Mahomes back in February of 2020 to cap off the 2019 season.

Dolphins’ quarterback Tua Tagovailoa discussed the fire after practice and was thankful for Hill’s safety and that of his family.
“I think that would be difficult for, not just my teammates, but for anyone in general to be going through what Tyreek is going through right now,” he said. “I think the main thing is his family is safe, his loved ones are good, and he’s good as well… It’s a little clichéd to say, but those things like that, part of the house, some of those things can be replaceable, but I’m just glad that a lot of his family members are safe.”
Going into Week 18 of the season, the Miami Dolphins are gearing up for a matchup against the Buffalo Bills. A victory or a tie will clinch the division for Mike McDaniel’s team, but a loss will give it to the Bills.
In his second year in the league, Tyreek Hill has been an unstoppable weapon for Miami. He leads the league in receiving yards with 1,717 yards on 112 receptions with 12 touchdowns. Dallas’s CeeDee Lamb trails him by 66 yards.
